Morning arrival at NJP/Bagdogra — meet & transfer to Gangtok (if required) and proceed immediately toward North Sikkim. En route enjoy the highland scenery: Singhik viewpoint (Kangchendzonga vistas), Seven Sisters / Naga waterfalls and terraced hamlets. Arrive in Lachen late afternoon. Check in, short walk around the village to meet yak herders and observe high-altitude pastoral life. Brief orientation on altitude precautions and a short nature walk around the village to spot high-altitude birds (rosefinches, accentors) at dusk. Overnight at a comfortable mid-range guesthouse in Lachen.
Pre-dawn start for Gurudongmar Lake (alt. ~5,000+ m) — the drive across stark highland plateaus and Thangu valley is dramatic; arrive at the sacred, crystal lake where the snowy peaks reflect in still water. Short walks, photos, and tea at local stalls (carry warm layers). Return toward Lachen and proceed to Lachung village. After lunch, short excursion to nearby nature trails or Thangu/Chopta valley (excellent for spotting Himalayan birds and small mammals). Overnight in Lachung — enjoy local cuisine and stargazing (weather permitting). Permits and acclimatisation briefings will be done as needed.
Early visit to Yumthang Valley (meadows, seasonal flowers, grazing yaks) — walk along the Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary trails; look for ground-foraging birds and small mammals in the meadows. If accessible, visit nearby hot springs or Zero Point (seasonal & permit dependent). After lunch begin return drive to Gangtok or onward drop at NJP/Bagdogra. Tour concludes on arrival (evening).
