• July to September: The greenery and views of the mountains become even more beautiful during the rainy season. But keep in mind that sometimes heavy rains and landslides can also cause problems.
• October to November: During this time the sky remains clear and the joy of festivals is also seen. The weather is also perfect for trekking.
• December to February: During this time the cold is quite severe and snowfall is also seen at high altitudes. If you like snow and winter travel, then these months are perfect for you.

For the most comfortable and easy travel, people mostly choose the time between March to June and September to November.

How to reach

Reaching Vaishno Devi is not as difficult as people think. Air, rail and road are convenient ways to reach here.

• Air route: The nearest airport is Jammu (Satwari Airport), which is about 50 km from Katra. Regular flights are available to Jammu from big cities like Delhi, Mumbai. From there you can easily reach Katra by taking a taxi or bus.
• Rail route: Now a direct train also goes to Katra. Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Railway Station is connected to many big cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai. Traveling by train is the most economical and easy option.
• Road route: Katra is also well connected by road. Buses, taxis and private vehicles are easily available from Jammu and nearby northern cities.

The real part of the journey starts from Katra. One has to climb about 13 kilometers to reach the temple. You can cover it on foot, or there is also the option of ponies, palanquins and battery cars. For those who want convenience, helicopter service is also available from Katra to Sanji Chhat. From there, one has to walk only 2.5 km to the temple.
