Srilanka Travel Guide

Overview

Sri Lanka is often called the pearl of the Indian Ocean, and that is true. It is a small country but it has all kinds of beauty hidden in it. There are long beaches with golden sand, and tea plantations are spread in other places. Old buildings, temples and ruins reflect its culture and history, and the people here win the heart of every traveler with their warmth and friendliness.

The biggest specialty of this country is its diversity. The scenery changes in just a few hours' drive—on one side you can enjoy the sun on the beach and on a short distance you can walk in the cool hills. Be it crowded cities or quiet temples, each place has its own charm.

UNESCO World Heritage Sites, amazing food and the hospitality of the local people, all together make Sri Lanka even more special. There is a lot to offer here for adventure seekers and if someone just wants to relax, then he will definitely find peace and tranquility here.

Best time to visit

The fun of visiting Sri Lanka doubles if you go at the right time, because there are two types of monsoon seasons here. Due to this, the weather of every part is slightly different.

The best time to visit the western and southern coast (Colombo, Galle, Bentota) and hilly areas (Nuwara Eliya etc.) is from December to March. During that time the weather remains clear and pleasant.

The best time to visit the eastern coast (Trincomalee, Arugam Bay, Batticaloa) is from April to September. There is less rain in this season and the fun of spending time on the beach increases even more.

If you want to cover the whole of Sri Lanka, then the time from December to April is considered the best. During this time the weather remains comfortable in most places and the experience of traveling is excellent.
